Our 4th prep hike is coming up soon. So far, we have had good turn out from Crew 2, and so-so turnout from Crew 1. Several Scouts have yet to make it to a prep hike. How are YOU doing? Will you be ready for that long climb up a 12,000 plus foot mountain wearing a 50-lb pack? I hope so. Remember that you not only hurt yourself by not being in shape, but you will hurt your crew too.

We have had a change in crew # 2. Mr. Flack has had to drop from the crew, due to the fact that he has been asked to be on a Woodbadge Course Staff. (A VERY big honor, indeed!) We will miss Mr. Flack, and wish him the best of luck on the Woodbadge course. I am pleased to announce that Mr. Tom Baltes, from Troop 166, will be joining Crew 2. Mr. Baltes has been "in line" for an opening, and I know he is excited about going.

Within the next few weeks, we should be getting our 1999 PEAKS book from Philmont, and we will need to choose the trek itinerary that you wish to take. Each crew will need to choose their 1^st, 2^nd, and 3^rd choice, and the two crews must go on different itineraries. As soon as we get the PEAKS book, I will meet with everyone at a Troop meeting to make this important decision. Until then….
